We went to hell and came back and now we're visiting Hraesvalgar in the hospital
Hraesvalgar wakes from his coma with Tara's potion, and says some stuff about Kei

There is so much I want to tell you, but I will sleep again soon. Hraesvalgr takes several wheezing breaths. You come from the North, Kei. I knew you from when you were younger... Eizengarde was attacked. I don’t think you remember. Only with this curse was my mind awakened. Oh Gods, you were once named Kronos, you were the youngest Heavensward in the land. Eizengarde, Heaven's Wing University, was attacked and destroyed by a group of dragons, betrayed by one of its heros, burned to the ground with no survivors... except maybe Kei
Small village by Eizengarde ruins - Heaven's Ward village by the Userbe mountain/volcano. 5 days dragon flight from the city.
Tara harvests rare flowers from there (for anti dragon potion) and points us on the map where to land a little ways away.

First big room - Large carving of a horned figure with glowing red eyes on the far wall of a room, and some ancient elvish inscription, can't quite read it - Saren notes down a copy, which others translate. Saren scales the figure to get the eyes - Fist-sized garnets. We fight oozes. Also find a chest containing 8 gp

Hraesvalgar seems to be Kei's dad and Alice is Kei's sister, based on a picture he found in the ruins outside
Room with a statue, man outstretched and face in agony, odd skull in his chest - On the wall near him, "Eladrin curse the unseen treasure of greed" and on another wall - carved, says "Stay Right", hissing seems to be coming from the statue (parseltongue whispery type sounds). necromancy. Stone cursed. We fight it, and we get a memory from him of hiding the treasure and then being attacked by a hooded figure.

We encounter Dmitri, but he's weird. Black smoke and seems to be possessed by a grinning "Shadow". The invisible ghost children say "you can't save him" and stab him a bunch. We try to de-possess him but our efforts fail. We decapitate him and burn the body.
Fought some rust monsters that looks like scuttling cockroaches on the ceiling. Found a chest containing:
4 vials of dark red liquid with corks - greater potions of healing
a little bag of dust of dryness. 10 pinches of dust. Sprinkle a pinch over water, turns a 15 ft cube of water into a marble-sized pellet. Use an action to smash the pellet of water on a hard surface, so it will shatter and release all the 15ft cube of water

Room with a pool with strange writing on the wall above it, and 3 emaciated teenage elven boys under a grate, dark raven hair. Metal iron chain chokers on their necks. Red amber eyes.

Leatherbound journal (slave roll) and key in one of the side cabinets. The key releases them. They speak some odd old variant of Elvish, ancient high elves? They've been drinking the youthwater, they're ancient and cray
Put a pinch of drying dust in there and took the pool of beauty with us. The ancient teenagers mention The Crying Boy - the new friend of the children. We let them go and they run to leave ("we love you")
Next room has a big sludge pool. Use a pinch of dust on sludge pool. There's a golden medallion in the center. Concentric circles and a small emerald. Saren puts it on, something catches her eye in the corner - see a floating orb. (pendant of see invisibility) It's one of the "children" who greets us and giggles when I poke it.

Room with the glowing orbs and a hanging cage with Dmitri in it, only Saren can see him. The grandmaster of the cult of the dragons severed him from his shadow using a sword, some kind of all powerful stuff.

We take a key from the end, then trigger an Indiana Jones water trap. Kalista gets caught in it, but the glowing spheres help her by blasting out the door. When we come back in the room, she's on a feather bed surrounded by gnomes, and a fallen Aasimar-lookin guy is sitting at a game table. Introduces himself as Lucifer and asks if we want to play a game.

Dark sword in the ground
Alice was the grandmaster, did not have a shadow, we kill her, she gets sucked into the sword
Sword summons a portal, Tiamat sticks her face through portal - throw sludge pellet into dragon maw
Took damage from attempting to pull sword - black lightning and stuff, but Saren eventually got it out, it turned into a purple gem and a voice spoke

Kalista shows up and wakes us. The dragon masks are now glowing (effects doubled)
Saren still has the gem.
Saren is still cursed with loss of shadow, sunlight will kill her.
Find a treasure chest with lots of stuff (Saren shoves whole chest into bag of holding), coded message, spellbook, and a map of Thundertree.

We leave dungeon and go back to town.
Some dragon cultists check out, "The man with the gold hair already left", they go out into the sun, and fuckin turn to dust with screaming
We flew by night to Thundertree and slept by day, Dmitri (also cursed) tests the sun and can move under a parasol. Saren weaves a hat.
Thundertree is desolate and Severin's head is on a spike outside the town. O_O Been there for several*severin days. Dragons don't want to land there. "The place is covered in dragon's blood" .....aaaand there's a giant dragon body carcass - Grandymyre in the middle of town.
A "Tree" in the distance moves... and starts walking towards us. Raises its hands, lowers its hood. It's a Tbaxi (cat person). Tally. +Tico the white raven.
Rathmodar came and killed the druid, Severin, and Grandymyre (R had some little flying demons that killed and ate him). The druid Ruidoth left us something from Severin. Red dragon mask for Locke.
There seems to be some path to Rathmodar releasing Tiamat without the Cult of the Dragon, which someone had tried before in the past. The Ancient Diaries have some more details.
The purple gem is a shard of the darkblade. 1/3 Someone must earn the right to wield it by doing a task for the god. The God of Shadows, whose name was hidden to history. The history is, heros had to stop a terrible wizard from putting it together.
Since Saren was cursed before touching this gem, this means Lucifer must have a shard too.
Must meditate with the gem for a day, things will come after you, to try and contact a god - to be de-cursed. Saren and Dmitri do this, the rest of the group must fight. (Saren's player fights as Tally)
First spiders and blue devils. Next time... Vrocks. Flying demon somethings. Then giant ogre trolls.

As we approach the city, there's a storm, hail. Our security are locked out of our tower... Terris is in there.

She had a letter. From Terris's dad, Iskander, is in the Cult but wants to betray them and help us to bring down the Cult. Says to come to meet him at Xanthal's Tower
We go to the tower, it has a giant hedge maze in the circle around it. But as we get closer it seems to get more overgrown, some weird magic.
Village seems chill and whatever.
Man on the tower waving a blue mask, presumably the dragon mask, he says he's going to leave it for us but it might be discovered - he's shouting across the whole maze after all. He fights off an attacker and disappears
We run into the maze, come across a sundial with one shadow pointing the wrong way
Reached a pool with a giant Garnet floating above (big as your head, 150 pp worth), Saren gets it, horrible claw monsters come out of the pool, Saren gets knocked into the next(?) area, back to the sundial but now two shadows, then into a new area.
Large field, vegetable garden, little hut, pond, sheep, two cyclops, kinda frozen-looking. Lawn bowling! We clear out a trench and bowl farther than them, their rock breaks open to reveal a large topaz, which Saren claims.

Now a field with flowers that have pearls in them, we hear voices, they attack us, we set them on fire, take some pearls.

Lawn area with pond and pagoda, and a human in robes, makes suspicious tea, only Kalista drinks but we all start getting poisoned, stone walls appear - Kei smashes a wall, then Saren steals the pot and tosses it to Locke who was outside, who smashes it. The dude casts a stone pillar and we all bail out, some of us get poisoned further but survive. The pot had a jade dragon in it.
Back to the sundial. Shadows on all paths. We go THROUGH the bushes. We fall and appear at the base of Xanthal's Tower
