Personality Notes |
Personality Traits: "I was into witchcraft before it was real." Hazel still uses sarcasm as armor, especially when things get scary. She makes jokes to avoid confronting the truth that her aesthetic became a lifestyle overnight. "I approach magic like DIY crafts: I don’t totally know what I’m doing, but I make it look cool." Her spells are messy, instinctive, and weirdly effective—like she’s improvising with a hot glue gun and moonlight. Ideals: Vibe First, Consequences Later – Hazel believes in the power of symbols, rituals, and intent—mainly because she accidentally proved herself right. She’s still figuring out what that means. Every Legend Has Teeth – Urban myths are more than stories. She wants to understand the forces behind them now, partly out of curiosity… partly so they don’t eat her. Bonds: The Bridge is Watching – Hazel doesn’t talk about it, but she sometimes returns to Bunnyman Bridge alone. She doesn’t know if it’s the place or the thing she met there that holds her leash, but she feels the connection. Cryptid TikTok – She runs a lowkey account where she posts “totally fake” folklore breakdowns and creepy story times. Her followers think it’s an ARG. She’s not correcting them. Her Friend Group – The ones who were there that night don’t know what really happened—and Hazel isn’t sure if she should warn them, thank them, or ghost them entirely. Flaws: “This is fine.” Hazel tends to downplay how weird and dangerous things have gotten. She’s afraid if she takes it seriously, it’ll get worse—or that she’ll admit she likes having power. Poor Impulse Control + Aesthetic Priorities – Sometimes she tries spells because they sound cool or match her vibe. Not because they’re a good idea. |

Backstory |
Hazel Morrow was never what you'd call a dedicated practitioner. In middle school, she went through a heavy goth phase—black eyeliner, fishnets under her jeans, and a deep love for horror movies she pretended to understand. She’d buy candles from the dollar store, chant vaguely Latin-sounding phrases from the internet, and insist to anyone who’d listen that she was a “child of the moon.” Mostly, it was an aesthetic. She liked the vibe. Her Book of Shadows was a decorated spiral notebook with glitter pen doodles and spells copied from Tumblr. So when her friends suggested a midnight trip to Bunnyman Bridge, she was all in. It was local legend—“Virginia’s own urban cryptid”—and Hazel couldn’t resist the mix of creepy folklore and nostalgic teenage daring. Under the bridge’s dark arch, surrounded by laughter, stale weed smoke, and the hum of cicadas, she raised her hands and jokingly made an offering: “If you’re out there, Bunnyman, I’m ready to sell my soul. Just give me something cool in return.” Everyone laughed. The moment passed. But something in the woods didn’t forget. She grew out of most of it—but not all. In her twenties, Hazel still dabbled in witchy stuff the way some people do yoga: mostly for the vibes, sometimes for stress relief. She kept a couple of crystals in her purse (for “balance”), knew her birth chart better than her credit score, and lit incense during Mercury retrograde. It was harmless, fun. Comforting. She still had the occasional strange dream, of eyes peering out of a dark, windy tunnel. Lately, she's been working at Darnell's Garden Patch, a garden center in Orange, VA. The organic, homemade, crunchy vibes fit right in with her preferences, and she always knows where to get the best herbs. After the fateful pickleball game, when magic began to bleed back into the world, Hazel changed. Strange things followed her—shadows that moved wrong, animals that stared too long, lights that flickered without cause. She felt something watching, something old and toothy and amused. And when she reached out—half on purpose, half by accident—it answered. Turns out, you can fake your way through a lot of things. But if you make a deal with a local legend at the wrong place, at the right time… it might take you seriously. Now, Hazel is a warlock—bound to something she doesn’t fully understand, but that seems all too happy to let her fumble her way toward power. Whether it’s the actual Bunnyman, a living ghost of regional fear, or just magic giving form to a half-sincere promise, Hazel’s stuck with it. And she’s finally a real witch. …She just wishes it wasn’t so creepy. |
